Regarding the Mets...

I will comment more on this later....when I'm not in a drunken haze and I can gather my thoughts about the season...

First an excerpt I read...

“The Green Fields of the Mind ” by A. Bartlett Giamatti
It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 2, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped, and summer was gone."

Wow...Powerful...Wow...

Quickly...

I give props to the Phillies...they deserve the playoffs...they played better ball and they had balls unlike the Mets...

I give equal credit to the Phillies for winning the division, and the Mets collapse because the Phils won head to head...but 5-12 over the final 17 is a disgrace. Bottom line. Not to mention the ridiculousness in some of the ways those games were loss/blown...

I feel terrible for Willie Randolph becuase in 10 of those losses I don't think there was a single thing he could do (and thats not to say he caused the other two...he just made moves I thought were wrong)...and I really hope he doesn't get fired

Till next time...
